Community club meeting to be held
The Sterling Community Club will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday at the log cabin located on the corner of the Sterling Highway and Swanson River Road at 7:30 p.m. Items for discussion include the July 7 excavation project for the new mulitpurpose outdoor hockey rink and the Aug. 4 Summer Fun Day.
Annual solstice run planned
The city of Kenai is sponsoring its annual Summer Solstice 5-kilometer fun run or walk Friday beginning at 10 p.m. at Leif Hansen Memorial Park in Kenai. The time was incorrectly announced in Monday's Peninsula Clarion.

Races planned for Saturday
The Twin Cities Raceway will feature stock car racing Saturday at Shotgun Drive across from Beaver Loop. The gates open at 5 p.m. with races starting at 7 p.m. General admission is $5 for adults and kids under 10 get in free.

Solstice festival planned
The 23rd annual Moose Pass Summer Solstice Festival will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at Mile 29 of the Seward Highway.

Literacy program schedules book fair
The Kenai Peninsula Literacy Program will sponsor a community wide book fair will be held June 28 and 29 at the Safeway entrance.

Soldotna Baptist Church to hold Bible school
The Soldotna Baptist Church will hold vacation Bible school with the F.R.O.G.S. Club July 2 through July 6 for children ages 4 to 12. Classes will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There will be Bible stories, crafts, snacks and fun. The church is located at 223 E. Redoubt Ave. in Soldotna. For more information, call 262-4618.
Delegates to meet with public
Staff members from Sens. Ted Stevens and Frank Murkowski and Congressman Don Young's Washington, D.C., offices will hold meetings in towns throughout the state. They will travel in a mobile office van so they can meet with community residents. All questions about the federal government are welcome, as well as public opinion messages and requests for case work.
The mobile offices will be on the Kenai Peninsula at the following times and places:
Aug 16: Seward, 9 a.m. to noon, Seward Post Office;
Aug 16: Cooper Landing, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Cooper Landing Post Office;
Aug. 17: Homer, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Homer Post Office;
Aug. 17: Ninilchik, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Ninilchik Fair Grounds.
Soldotna chamber seeks Progress Days vendors
The Greater Soldotna Chamber of Commerce has vendor spaces available for its upcoming Progress Days celebration, which will be held July 28.
