Phone card donations sought

The Alaska District of the Postal Service is sponsoring a campaign called "Let Freedom Ring" that allows customers to purchase a $10 USPS Global International phone card and donate it to Alaska military personnel serving overseas. Cards may be purchased and donated at the post office in Soldotna. The campaign will run through July 9.

Community workshop planned

South Peninsula Women's Services will sponsor a five-day community awareness workshop on domestic violence and sexual assault from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (daily schedule will vary) Wednesday through June 28 at 3776 Lake St. in Homer. Topics will cover the dynamics and escalating nature of domestic violence, the effect of domestic violence on children and how a community's response to domestic violence and sexual assault impacts victims. SoHi pool offering swim lessons

The Soldotna High School pool is offering registration for its summer swimming lessons from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Swim lessons are 10, 40-minute lessons for levels two through five and 10, 30-minute lessons for level one. The cost is $40 for group lessons or $10 per hour for private lessons.

Session three begins June 28; session four begins July 12; and session five begins July 26.

Kenai Performers to hold camp

The Kenai Performers are taking registration for a summer theater camp. Session one, for children in grades one through six, will run June 28 through July 16. Session two, for children in grades six through 12, will run from July 19 to Aug. 13.

Up to four classes a day are available to campers, with a minimum of two classes required for participation in the musical. Auditions for the musical will be held in the first week of camp. Camp instructors will be area actors and three college theater graduates. The musical will be directed by Carol Ford. Volksmarch 10K planned

The Anchorage Volkssport Club will host volksmarches 10 kilometer walks daily through Sept. 30, starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Kenai Subway. A volksmarch is a noncompetitive walk designed to encourage walking for health.

Participants may ask for a map and instructions from the Anchorage Volkssport Club box behind the counter at Subway during the stores hours: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays. The event and supplies are free, though stamps for International Volksmarch books and distance credits cost $3.

Red Cross golf tourney set

The American Red Cross will hold it 13th annual golf classic, barbecue and auction fund-raiser July 3 at the Birch Ridge Golf Course in Soldotna. Sponsors, volunteers and players are being sought for the event. For more information, to volunteer or register, call 262-4541.

WRCC fund-raiser slated

The 20th annual WRCC-KSRM Radio-thon will be held Sept. 13. Volunteers are being sought to work remote teams and help organize the event. It is the only major fund-raiser held. For more information or to volunteer, call June at 283-9479.
