Hero's of the WeekResident grateful for response

This is a special thanks to the Kenai Fire Department, Pol-ice officers Sandahl and Hershberger, as well as the paramedics that had an unbelievable six-minute response time on my 911 call this morning, (June 6) at 10:55 a.m.

While having my coffee on the back porch, starting my day in the office, I saw smoke billowing out of my neighbors outbuilding. Their boys had cleaned it out, turning it into their fort and having a sleep over with friends, one of them plugged in an electric heater and a blanket caught fire.

Seeing smoke, I called 911. While watching the flames creeping out the doorway and the children trying to beat the fire out with a broom, I am very relieved to say that no one was hurt, the building was a small price to pay, and a very special thanks for these gentlemen that keep our children safe.

Kindness makes lunch easier to digest

Recently, we went to the Pizza Hut in Kenai for lunch. When we came out, our car wouldn't start. The manager and district manager came to help us. They helped us to get our car towed to Hutchings Chevrolet in Soldotna.

The district manager gave my friend a ride to Soldotna. The manager (Ed) at the service department took the car in and got us on our way again. We were so blessed to have people to be so kind and helpful to us.

Thank you all.
