Self-defense class a success on many levels

Posted: Wednesday, June 20, 2007

The Kenai Peninsula Chapter of Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) held a self-defense class for women last week. I would like to thank the following folks who helped make the class possible: The Carr’s Foundation (Anchorage), Carlile Transportation, Central Peninsula Hospital, Save-U-More, Safeway and Jersey Subs.

Also, thanks to the Clarion for letting women know about the class through the “Around the Peninsula” column.

We had 50 women participate in the class, and they all had a good time, learned a lot and now wonder why all women in our community have not signed up. It is definitely an empowering class that enables women to walk proudly without fear.

We would encourage women to watch for the next class.

Thanks also to every individual who assisted in making this class such a success.
