Soldotna museum open for summer

The Soldotna Historical Society Homesteader Village and Museum is open through Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. The museum is on Centennial Park Road in Soldotna.

Beginning Thursday, Lorraine Larsen will teach fur skin sewing classes at the museum every Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call 262-3832.

Musicians sought for festival

The Kenai Peninsula Orchestra, planned for Aug. 2-12, is seeking for individuals or small groups of musicians to be part of the Summer String Festival by performing in one of the free luncheon concerts during festival week.

Rehearsal will be held Saturday. The string sectional will meet from 10 a.m. to noon, full orchestra from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Ninilchik Fairgrounds.
