Warbird organizers meet tonight

The Wings of Freedom Committee, which is organizing the visit of two World War II bombers to Kenai, will meet at 7 p.m. tonight at the Civil Air Patrol hangar at the south end of the Kenai Municipal Airport runway. Anyone interested in being involved with the committee is invited to attend.

Bird walk scheduled for today

The Kenai Watershed Forum presents a bird walk with Ken Marlow at 7 p.m. today at Morgan's Landing State Park Headquarters overflow parking. Walks are free and open to the public.

DAV meeting plannedDAV meeting planned

Annual Quilt Extravaganza begins Thursday

The seventh annual Quilt Extravaganza is Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Exhibits include vendor booths, demonstrations, door exhibits and a wearable art fashion show at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Letitia Hutchings is the featured guest artist.

The quilt show is $3.50 and the fashion show is $5. For more information, call Robin Place Fabric at 262-5438.

Book swap planned

There will be a home school curriculum book swap Friday from noon to 3 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. Everyone is responsible for their own finances and tagging items. For more information, call 283-1483 or send an e-mail to rhamilton@ideafamilies.

Fun run scheduled

The city of Kenai is sponsoring its annual Summer Solstice 5-kilometer fun run or walk Friday at 10 p.m. Start and finish are at Leif Hansen Memorial Park on Frontage Road in Kenai. For more information, call 283-3855.

Annual KPFA meeting to be held

The Kenai Peninsula Fishermen's Association will have its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Friday at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture building on Kalifornsky Beach Road. Local legislators, Jeff Fox and Larry Marsh of Alaska Department of Fish and Game, and Gary Fendrei of Cook Inlet Aquaculture will speak. For more information, call 262-2363.

Farmer's market opens

Benefit planned

There will be a $10 roast beef dinner benefit for Dianna Allmon at the AMVETS on Kalifornsky Beach Road on Sunday. Donations for the silent auction can be dropped off at the AMVETS Post No. 4. For more information, call 262-3540.
