God and Country Rally place changed

The 11th annual God and Country Rally scheduled for 6 p.m. June 30 has been relocated to Cook Inlet Academy from Kenai Central High School due to construction delays. The rally will feature the Bel Canto Community Kids Choir performing "Salute to America" and speaker Lane Stockeland of the 6th Recruiting Brigade in Las Vegas.

The purpose of the rally is to honor those who have and are serving our country and to recognize God's blessings on our country. Admission is free.

Clothing ministry open this weekend

The New 2 U clothing ministry sponsored by First Baptist Church Soldotna will be open from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at 159 Binkley St. in Soldotna.

Special concert slated for Sunday

Grammy Award-winning vocalist Sherman Andrus will perform a concert at New Life Assembly of God Church, 209 Princess St. in Kenai, at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Andrus was an original member of Andrae Crouch and the Disciples, a lead singer with the Imperials, and co-founded Andrus, Blackwood and Company. He ministers all over the world.

Spiritual poems sought

The Texas Poetry Alliance is offering a $1,000 grand prize in its annual spiritual poetry contest. There is no entry fee and everyone is invited to submit a poem. More than $4,500 in cash and prizes will be awarded.

To enter, send one poem 20 lines or less to: Free Poetry Contest, 3412-A Moonlight Ave., El Paso, Texas 79904. Or enter online at www.freecontest.com.

The deadline is June 30. A winner's list will be sent to all entrants. The editors reserve the right to publish the winning poems online or in print.

Expedition with God planned

Kenai Christian Church will have its vacation Bible school July 7-12 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Ages birth through sixth grade will take "an expedition with the one, true God" with the Amazon Outfitters.

Dr. George Braswell, professor of missions and world religions, will lead the adults classes. His first topic will be "The Four Faces of Islam," about America before and after the terrorist attacks and the Christian response.
