Legislators should adopt POMV plan to manage permanent fund

Posted: Monday, June 21, 2004

Dear Senators and Representatives:

As you recall, last October and again in March, the Alaska Council of School Administrators signed a letter to encourage you to act on a fiscal plan this year. Despite recent high oil price projections, massive projected fiscal problems next year and beyond underscore the need for action this year.

Our organization is firmly supportive of the implementation of 5 percent of market value management of the Alaska Permanent Fund and the use of fund earings to provide dividends and a balanced state budget with adequate levels of public services.

Please take action to implement a fiscal plan during the special legislative session this week.

Mary A. Francis, Executive director, Alaska Council of School Administrators
