The bears are out. Last Tuesday while out on Kalifornsky Beach Road with Jack and Karen Kester, we saw two brown bears opposite the bike trail.

Along with us and another driver, the bikers and a family walking were swiftly put in the back of two trucks. The bears were not spooked by the commotion or sounds of the vehicles and continued to watch others on bikes.

Take the time to familiarize yourself with your surrounds and read up on bear safety.

To learn more about the proper way to protect your property and have a bear safe neighborhood, call Larry Lewis or Jeff Selinger of Fish and Game at 262-9368. They would be happy to come do a community talk.
