Tina Louise Bunch-Thayer

Lifelong Alaskan and Soldotna resident Tina Louise Bunch-Thayer died Sunday, June 17, 2007, at her mother’s home in Soldotna. She was 36.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 25, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Marydale Drive in Soldotna. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow the service at Kenai City Cemetery. Bishop Robert E. Grant will officiate. A reception will follow the burial at the church.

Mrs. Thayer was born Jan. 15, 1971, in Kenai. She was a wife, mother, daughter, best friend and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Soldotna.

She enjoyed working in her mother’s yard and at home. She was her mother’s best friend.

“She loved being a mother, wife and friend. Tina was a very special person to all who knew her well. She overcame many struggles in life and had a bright future. She always looked to the day when she could travel and go see places after she raised six beautiful children. Fly with the wings of an angel, Honey, and go see places. We will miss you dearly, however we know you are well taken care of.

“There is a message she wanted to include from her heart: ‘Those of you struggling with the disease of alcoholism, to please get help. It can and will kill you.’ Tina was a very dear and special wife, mother, daughter and friend,” her family said.

Mrs. Thayer was preceded in death by her aunt, Donna Lee Kartchner; Grandfather and Grandmother Bunch; and grandfather, Leith F. Kartchner.

She is survived by her husband, Darren Thayer of Soldotna; children, Haley, Joshua and Anthony Bunch, and Aubrie, Brittnie and Sheila Thayer of Soldotna; father and step-mother, William E. and Lorna Bunch of Soldotna; mother, Dorothy Jackson of Soldotna; sisters, Sherry Maestas of Kenai and Shannon Kooly of Soldotna; brothers and sisters-in-law, William E. and Samantha Bunch Jr. of Soldotna, Frank L. and Brandi C. Bunch of Tooele, Utah; nieces and nephews, Zoey Maestas of Kenai, Teairah Bunch of Kenai, William M. Bunch of Tooele, Utah, Hunter, Amy and Nevaeh Bunch, and Mindi West of Soldotna; grandmother, Celia Kartchner of Soldotna; and other extended family members in Soldotna and the Lower 48.
