Geologist to share perspective on Kenai River
The Kenai Watershed Forum and geologist Robert Ruffner are holding a free walk to discuss the Kenai River from a geological perspective. People are invited to come learn how the Kenai River came to be where it is.
The walk begins at 1 p.m. today at the Kenai River Flats viewing platform on Bridge Access Road.
The walk is free.
Forth of July registration deadline is Friday
The Kenai Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the Fourth of July parade. The parade theme, in honor of the Challenger Learning Center, will be "Kenai - A Great Place for Space!"
Booths will again be located in front of the softball fields on Main Street Loop and will feature food, crafts, live music and much more.
Parade and booth registration forms are available at the Kenai Chamber of Commerce log cabin. The entry deadline is Friday.

WRCC in need of volunteers
The Women's Resource and Crisis Center is inviting community members to get involved by volunteering their time at the WRCC shelter, the transitional living center, and the nutrition and child care programs.

Russian influence topic of campground talk
"Russian Impact on the Kenai" will be the topic of the Captain Cook State Recreation Area program from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the interpretive center near site 15 at the Discovery Campground.
Dorothy Gray, a local educator, will discuss the Russian influence on the Kenai Peninsula.
Discovery Campground is located at the end of the Spur Highway.
Those attending should not bring their pets.
Bridges to hold garage sale Saturday
Bridges Community Resource Network will hold its annual fund-raiser garage sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The garage sale will be at 145 Kasilof Avenue, Soldotna.
