Bristol Bay deckhand dies

NAKNEK (AP) -- A deckhand fell from the fishing vessel Blue Falcon and drowned in Bristol Bay Thursday, according to Bristol Bay Borough police.

The vessel was abouyt two miles from the mouth of the Naknek River when the deckhand fell at about 5:30 a.m.

Vessels in the area started searching for the man immediately. His body was recovered about 6:30 a.m.

Bristol Bay Borough police have not released the name of the victim until his family can be notified. He's described as a 41-year-old man from Torrance, Calif.

The victim and the captain were the only two people aboard the Blue Falcon at the time. Investigators say there were no signs of foul play.
