Waves of arctic lupine carpet a meadow along the Hideout Trail in the National Wildlife Refuge.
Wildflower lovers will find plenty to see on the trail, which begins about three miles up the Jim's Landing end of Skilak Lake Loop.
Starting at nearly 550 feet elevation, the trail climbs about 1.5 miles through a portion of the 1991 Pothole Lake burn to an elevation fo 1,535 feet, where nice views of Skilak Lake and the Kenai Mountains await.
