Swim team holds tryouts

The Silver Salmon swim team will hold tryouts throughout the month of June at 9:30 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Soldotna pool. Team members need to be at least age 6. The team will learn how to backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and swim freestyle.

There are opportunities to compete against other teams, swim in relays and win ribbons. For more information, call the Soldotna pool at 262-1506.

Chamber lunch includes specialist

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce weekly meeting begins at noon Wednesday at Paradisos. The featured speaker is Midge Clouse, an area government specialist for the Alaska Division and Business Development. Her topic is "How to influence elected officials." A $10.50 fee is inclusive. Wetland photo contest held

The Homer Soil and Water Conservation District is sponsoring a photo contest titled "My Favorite Wetland." Photos must be received by noon Friday at the Homer district office.

Entries should be 8-by-10 inches and either black and white or color. Place photos in an envelope with the photographer's name, address and phone number and where and when the photo was taken. Entries can be mailed to the Homer Soil and Water Conservation District, 4014 Lake Street, Suite 201, Homer, AK 99603.

Photos will be displayed in the USDA foyer at the NBA building on Lake Street from June 30 through July 10. Contest winners will receive dinner for two at an upscale Homer restaurant. For more information, call Al Poindexter at 235-8177, ext. 5.
