Summer reading program continues
Registration for the Soldotna Public Library summer reading program titled "Dragons, Dreams and Daring Deeds" continues through July 15.
The program is in progress, but area children are encouraged to begin at any time. For more information, call 262-4227 or visit www.ci.soldotna.ak.us/library.html. There is no cost.
Sterling group to meet
The board of directors for the the Sterling Community Coalition Group will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Sterling Baptist Church.

Barbecue fund-raiser set
The Sterling Senior Center will host its 15th annual barbecue fund-raiser from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Ribs, chicken, baked beans, salad, garlic bread and dessert will be served.
Door prizes, a silent auction and a bake sale are some of the planned activities.
Admission is $12.50 for adults or $5 for children ages 3 to 12.
Group celebrates hope
Hope Community Resources Inc., formerly Hope Cottages, will celebrate its first anniversary from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Agrium Park by Swiftwater.
Hope Community Resources offers services statewide to individuals with developmental disabilities. For more information, call Roni or Holly at 260-9496.
Swim lessons continue
Soldotna High School pool's summer schedule is Mondays through Fridays with pool rental available Saturdays and Sundays.
The weekly schedule is as follows: 6 to 7:55 a.m., lap swim; 8 to 9:55 a.m., Soldotna Silver Salmon Swim Team; 10 a.m. to 12:10 p.m., swimming lessons; noon to 1 p.m., lap swim and private lessons; 1 to 2:45 p.m., open swim; 3 to 5 p.m., swimming lessons; and 5 to 6 p.m., lap swim and private lessons.
The cost is $3 for adults, students and seniors or $25 for plunge cards.
Swim lessons also are offered, most consisting of 10 lessons each and are 40 minutes in length. Due to limited space, preregistration is suggested.
Session dates are: Monday (this session will only have nine lessons), July 11 and July 25. Lessons are offered six times a day and held Monday through Friday. The cost is $40 per session.
Private lessons are $10 for 30 minutes. For more information or to register, call the pool at 262-7419.
