Chambers set schedules

· The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon Tuesday at the Riverside House in Soldotna. The topic will be the Peninsula Community Health Center Project.

· The Kenai Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon Wednesday at Paradisos in Kenai. The speaker will be port director and former Alaska Gov. William Sheffield, speaking for the city of Anchorage Port Authority.

Land trust plans kayak, bicycle benefit days

The Kachemak Heritage Land Trust will host a Seldovia bike trip benefit from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 10, starting from the Homer harbor.

The $65 fee includes boat and bicycle transportation across the harbor to Seldovia, where the bicycling trip will take place.

Participants are asked to bring lunch, appropriate clothing and water.

The trust also will host a Nubble Point geology and kayak trip from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 15, starting from the Homer harbor.

Geologist Taz Tally will host the guided tour. The cost is $195 per person.

No kayak experience is necessary, but participants are asked to bring lunch.

Registration is required by July 8 for the bike trip and July 10 for the kayak tour.

Home Depot announces July workshop schedule

The Home Depot in Kenai will host the following free workshops in July: one called “Create a pavestone walkway” at 7 p.m. Thursdays through July 20; “Installing hardwood flooring” at 10 a.m. Saturdays through July 22 and “Selecting, maintaining and cleaning carpet” at 1 p.m. Sundays through July 23.

The store will host an event weekend on the topic of energy efficiency July 27-30, with a workshop on energy efficient lighting upgrades at 7 p.m. on July 27, one on energy efficient cooling systems at 10 a.m. on July 29 and one on selecting and installing energy efficient doors and windows on July 30 at 1 p.m.

The store also will host a workshop for kids on sport rack building from 9 a.m. to noon July 1.
