Kenai pool sets summer hours

The Kenai Central High School pool's hours are from 6:30 to 8 a.m. Monday through Friday -- lap swim; 8 to 9 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday -- swim workout for swim team or adults ($35 for a punch card or $4 a day); and from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Monday and Friday -- open swim.

Swim lesson times are 9 to 9:40 a.m., 9:45 to 10:25 a.m., 10:30 to 11:10 a.m., 11:15 to 11:55 a.m., noon to 12:30 p.m. (3 and 4 year olds) and private lessons 3 to 3:30 p.m. and 3:30 to 4 p.m. For more information, call 283-7476.

Car seat check-ups planned

Safe Kids Kenai Peninsula/Central Peninsula Hospital will hold car seat check-ups at the following locations.

* Wednesday and July 2 and Aug. 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Kenai Fire Department;

* Thursday and July 16 and Aug. 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Central Emergency Services Soldotna Fire Department; and

* July 28 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Nikiski Fire Department No. 1.

Immunizations available

The Kenai Public Health Center at 630 Barnacle Way, Kenai, provides walk-in immunization services from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Thursdays at the Soldotna Cottonwood Clinic For more information call 335-3400.

The center will be closed July 3 to observe Independence Day. It will reopen July 6 at 8 a.m.

Community picnic planned

The BP free community picnic and barbecue will be held from noon to 3 p.m. July 10 at Soldotna Creek Park.

BP Alaska will host the event as a way to thank the community. Activities, live music and BP giveaways are planned.

Class of 1999 to gather

The Skyview High School class of 1999 reunion will be held at 7 p.m. July 17 at Froso's Restaurant in Soldotna with a bar night to follow at Hooligans.

On July 18 a barbecue will be held at noon at Soldotna City Park.

Disc golf tourney slated

A disc golf tournament will be held Aug. 1 at the disc golf course behind Oilers Field in Kenai to raise funds for Camp Mend A Heart, a bereavement camp for youth, sponsored by Hospice of the Central Peninsula.

Hospice is seeking community members to sponsor or co-sponser a hole, sponsor a team, be a team player or volunteer for tasks for the tournament.

The day camp is free to local children ages 6 to 12 years old and is set for Aug. 17, 18, 19.
