Quilt festival upcoming

The 16th Annual Quilting on the Kenai Quilt Show with a classes, a fashion show, vendors, demos and a quilt walk will be held June 24 to 26 at Cook Inlet Academy. For more information go to

God , Country rally set

There will be the 19th God & Country Rally on June 27 at Kenai Central High School at 6 p.m.The special speaker will be coming from Washington State and his name is Gary Thornton. Gary is a Vietnam Vet who was a POW for 6 years and 12 days. His 4-18 was bombed and his pilot that day was killed intheir planeand his name is Major Russell C. Goodman who's daughter is Sue Stein of Soldotna and husband George. Major Goodman's remains were found and identified in November 2009 and brought back home in January 2010. Special music will be provided by Cissy Padgett, a renown recording artist, and local talent. The rally is supporting the Red, White and Blue campaign by attendees bringing a gift of canned fish or candy for troops serving overseas.

Historical cabins tour planned

The Kasilof Regional Historical Association is hosting an historic cabins tour at the Museum and at Larry Meyer's homestead June 24 at 10 a.m.

Meet at the Kasilof Historical Museum, Mile .5 Kalifornsky Beach Road. Spend two to three hours exploring more than a dozen restored cabins and structures dating from the 1920s. Good walking shoes and insect repellent recommended.

Public Health schedules immunization clinics

Immunization visits Kenai Public Health Center are available by appointment to reduce waiting time. Appointment times in Kenai are on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon and 3 to 6 p.m.

Appointment times in Soldotna, at the Cottonwood Health Center, are from 1:30 to 4:45 p.m. on Thursdays.

Pet photos can be color or black and white and should be no smaller than 3-by-5 inches. They may include people. Limit one photo per household. They can be dropped off at the Kenai office, mailed to the Clarion at P.O.
