KVCC offers summer interpretive programs
The Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center will present a variety of summer interpretive programs this week.
Today, for Science on the Kenai, Janice Chumley of the University of Alaska Cooperative Extension Service will discuss how to manage invasive species in your yard.
On Wednesday, for Arts on the Kenai, Seward playwright Doug Capra will discuss the research he did on legendary character "Alaska Nellie."
On Friday, for Alaska Heritage Day, author Naomi Gaede Penner will read from her book "Prescription for Adventure: Bush Pilot Doctor." There will be a book signing at 4 p.m.
All summer interpretive programs begin at 3 p.m. and are free of charge.
Challenger Center to host open house, astronaut
The Challenger Learning Center of Alaska and ConocoPhillips Alaska will sponsor an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. July 9 at the center. Alaska astronaut LTCMDR Bill Oefelein will be present, and the public is invited to meet him and take a tour of the expanded center facility. For more information, call 283-2000.
