Anchorage police investigate fatal accident on Glenn Highway

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Police were investigating a fatal vehicle accident that occurred Saturday on the Glenn Highway.

Investigators said a driver traveling on the Glenn Highway near the Hiland Road Exit lost control of their vehicle and struck a white dump truck pulling a tandem trailer shortly before 9:30 a.m.

The vehicle rolled over and came to rest in the inbound lane of the highway. The name of the victim was not released pending notification of family.

The dump truck continued down the highway. Police said the driver may not have known the vehicle was involved in an accident. Alaska State Troopers were assisting in the search for the dump truck.

The accident closed one lane of the highway for about three hours.
