Habitat for Humanity warehouse sale set

Habitat will hold its annual warehouse sale Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the mini-storage units on the Kenai Spur Highway, just past the old SBS building. A variety of building supplies will be available. Proceeds go to current building projects.

Donations needed

Boxes For Heroes will participate in the 50th annual 4th of July celebration sponsored by the Kenai Chamber of Commerce. We will be collecting care package items at our booth as well as conducting a silent auction to raise funding for the program. Some of the items collected will be peanuts, trail mix, beef jerky, gummy bears, cheese/peanut butter crackers, granola/energy bars crystal light, instant coffee/tea, instant soups, hard candy, & other various Snack items. Baby wipes, foot powder, lubricating eye drops, cotton swabs, bug repellent, lip balm, feminine hygiene products, razors/ shaving cream, pens/pencils, envelopes/notepads, ziploc baggies all sizes. any and all support would be appreciated. Peace garden planned

There will be a dedication of the Peace Garden at Central Peninsula Hospital on July 14 at 6 p.m. The garden was created in memory of CPH Information Services Director Mike Webb with dedicated memorial funds and donations from Bishop's Attic and CPH. The garden is located on the south side of the hospital, close to the Emergency Department parking area. Coffee will be served immediately following.

Swim lessons make a splash

Nikiski Pool has space available for swim lessons from June 29-July 15, 2010 including Beginners, Tiny Tots, Advanced Beginners and Intermediates.

Comp swim begins July 20, Jr. Lifeguarding begins June 29 and Semi-private lessons begin Aug. 10. Sign-ups are ongoing at the Nikiski Pool. Call 776-8800 for more information.

Day camp available

North Peninsula Recreation's Summer Day Camp runs through Aug. 5 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center for first- sixth-graders. Pre-registration is not required. Walk-ins are welcome. The day camp includes Swimming, Cooking, Pottery, Crafts, Field Trips, Special Guests, Gym Activities, and more.
