The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank recently hosted the statewide Alaska Food Coalition meeting in Soldotna. The purpose of the meeting was to showcase efforts to fight hunger throughout Alaska.
At an evening banquet to recognize the major contributors to the statewide effort as well as local supporters of the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank, businesses were presented with State of Alaska Certificates of Appreciation signed by Governor Tony Knowles.
The Alaska Food Coalition presented certificates to Agrium U.S. Inc, BP, Unocal, Carrs/Safeway, Fred Meyer, City of Kenai, Kenai Peninsula Borough, United Way, Lynden Transport, Marathon Oil, Peak Oilfield Services, Peterkin Distributors, Phillips Alaska, City of Soldotna, Tesoro Alaska, Udelhoven Oilfield Systems, and VECO.
"The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank is especially appreciative of these businesses support, as we are funded entirely by individual, civic organizations, and business donations and grants," said Peggy Moore, executive director of the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank.
