Sponsors provide hockey players invaluable experience

The Kenai Peninsula Hockey Association Midget U-16 team would like to thank Alaska for your support and enthusiasm when we won the Alaska state title and moved forward to the national competition. We went to Nationals in Ellenton, Fla., and competed against the best. Our team represented the smallest association at the tournament, we had some of the youngest players and we traveled the farthest. We gave out Kenai and Soldotna brochures, pins, T-shirts and Alaska flags to all the other teams and tournament officials. Although we did not win a game, the games were very close, we played with Kenai Peninsula heart and sportsmanship and pulled strength from within ourselves. We are 10th in the nation. The players grew as a team, as players and as young men and women. It was a hockey highlight they will never forget.
