Soldotna resident Aubrey L. "Al" Mooney died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Elmendorf Air Force Hospital in Anchorage. He was 77.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. today, June 25, at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, with full military honors. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 28, at the Soldotna Senior Citizens Center.
Mr. Mooney was born Sept. 26, 1926, in Petty, Texas. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and later worked as a teamster. He was active in the Kenai and Soldotna senior citizens centers, as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Elks clubs.
"Al was well loved and respected," his family said. "We will miss his willing hands and loving heart."
Mr. Mooney is survived by his brothers, Calvin L. Mooney, Billie Jo Furman and Romelda Condon; cousin, Maurine Ferris-Kennedy; children, Margaret Ann Hughes, Steven Ray Mooney and Jim P. Mooney; and numerous grandchildren and other cousins.
Arrangements were made by Evergreen Memorial Chapel in Anchorage.
