Jordan sparks Braves to NL East win

PHILADELPHIA-- Brian Jordan's three-run homer sparked a six-run third inning, and Greg Maddux pitched seven innings as the Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 9-4 Monday night in a matchup of the top teams in the NL East.

Expos 3, Marlins 1

MIAMI -- Vladimir Guerrero and Rob Ducey hit solo home runs, leading Javier Vazquez and Montreal over Florida. The win was the fourth in five games for the Expos, who had lost 11 of 15.

Giants 5, Dodgers 2

SAN FRANCISCO -- Jeff Kent went 4-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs as San Francisco beat Los Angeles for its seventh straight home victory.

Astros 6, Diamondbacks 0

PHOENIX -- Wade Miller threw seven scoreless innings to earn his ninth victory as Houston beat Arizona.

Cubs 2, Mets 1

CHICAGO -- Robert Machado homered for the first time this year, topping Todd Zeile's solo shot as Chicago beat New York.

Padres 6, Rockies 4

DENVER -- Ben Davis hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning, helping Kevin Jarvis beat his old team as San Diego defeated Colorado.

Pirates 6, Brewers 4

PITTSBURGH -- Brian Giles and Aramis Ramirez hit consecutive homers in the fifth inning as Pittsburgh defeated Milwaukee.

In a matchup of rookie starters, David Williams (1-0) won his first career start for Pittsburgh.
