Chamber meeting today

The Greater Soldotna Chamber of Commerce meeting today features Michael Burns, president of KeyBank of Alaska. The meeting is at noon at the Riverside House in Soldotna.

Gauge testing planned

The Cooperative Extension Service will offer free testing of pressure canner dial gauges Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the extension office in the Doors and Windows Building on Kalifornsky Beach Road.

To assure food is safely canned, it is essential to check dial gauges annually for accuracy. Weighted gauges do not need to be checked. For more information, call 262-5824.

Class reunion to be held

The 20-year reunion for the 1981 classes of Kenai and Soldotna will be held Friday and Saturday. For more information or to register, call 262-2398 or send an e-mail to

UCIDA meeting planned

United Cook Inlet Drifters Association will hold its annual meeting Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Kenai Elks Club in Kenai. For more information, call Cindy Hall at 260-9436.

Art workshops planned for youth

The Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center will hold summer art workshops for youth with Debbie Harris in June and July. The first class is Saturday and features printmaking for children ages 5 to 9. The class is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Classes for children ages 10 to 15 are from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The cost is $10. To register, call 283-1991.

Races scheduled

Alaska Sports Car Club will hold races Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at the Soldotna airport. At 4 p.m. Saturday, racers can register and race their own cars. Registration begins at 3 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call 260-3926.

Hand bell group to perform

The Twin Cities Bronze, an English hand bell group, will perform at 7 p.m. Monday at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. The performance is free and open to the public.

Chamber seeks participants

The Greater Soldotna Chamber of Commerce has vendor spaces available for its upcoming Progress Days celebration July 28. For more information, call 262-9814.

Donations are requested

Independent Living Center is accepting donations of wheelchairs, walkers and equipment for those with vision or hearing impairments. Monetary donations also will be accepted to help Alaskans with disabilities.
