Kenai Elks Lodge donations show support, interest in area teens
A big thank you goes to the Kenai Elks Lodge No. 2424 for its continued enthusiasm and support of the Kenai Teen Center. Donations through the years have assisted with the purchase of many games and activity centers that have contributed greatly toward providing positive and meaningful activities for our youth.
A special thank you also goes to Chuck Smalley Sr. for his vision, commitment and leadership. The Kenai Parks and Recreation Department is forever grateful for your efforts.

Soldotna resident appreciates hot, cold work by city employees
Having been a civil servant for 30 years (now retired), I know how likely it is (not) to have a member of the lay public tell a civil servant congratulations for doing a good job.
These congratulations are for Tom Boedeker, Soldotna city manager; Steve Bonebrake, public works director; Kathy Ottinger and her staff, and all the others who keep our streets and sidewalks clear of snow and ice in winter and our streets maintained and the dust down in summer.
This effort appears well managed and can be a cold, miserable job in winter or a hot, dirty one in summer and must seem incredibly tedious and repetitive to those who physically do the work. Let it be known that, even though you may think your work is taken for granted, most Soldotna residents and visitors appreciate your efforts.
