Alliance tourney set for July 31

The Alliance Kenai Chapter golf tournament will be held July 31 at Kenai Golf Course. The event will start at 8 a.m. Those registering before July 9 will receive a discount.

Sign-up begins for Homer Breast Cancer Run

Registration forms for the 16th annual Homer Breast Cancer Run are now available online at kbfpc.org or at the Kachemak Bay Family Planning Clinic. The run will be Aug. 15 at 11 a.m., and includes a five-mile and one-mile fun run, starting and ending at Bishop's Beach.

In lieu of an entrance fee, tax-deductible sponsorships and donations in any amount are encouraged. All of the proceeds stay in Homer to support early breast cancer detection and the local mammogram program. For more information, visit kbfpc.org or call 235-3436.

Frontier to hold World Series

Frontier Community Services will hold its seventh annual World Series baseball event on July 10 at the Soldotna Little League fields. The goals of the event are to foster teamwork, fair play and healthy fun; give the players a feeling of personal accomplishment; and promote community awareness of the services and programs of Frontier Community Services.

Anyone with a developmental disability is welcome to play ball. Sign-in begins at 11 a.m., games begin at noon. Admission is free. For more information, contact Kathy Kenner at 262-6331 or kkenner@fcsonline.org.

All American camp comes to area

The All American Volleyball Camps and Peninsula Midnight Sun Volleyball Club are hosting a skills camp at Soldotna and Skyview High Schools Aug. 3 to 5. This year's camp will feature Sara Pavan, a former University of Nebraska player. She is a four-time First Team All-American and led her team to an NCAA title in 2006 and an NCAA runner-up finish in 2005. She was the NCAA player of the year in 2006 and 2007 and the Broderick Award winner as the top female college athlete. She currently plays professionally in Europe and for the Canadian National Team.

The camp is open to players entering grades eight through 11 next fall. Camp is limited to the first 48 applicants and is open to players from throughout the peninsula.

Rotary Run will be July 17

The Rotary Unity Run will be July 17, offering either a five-kilometer race or a 10-mile race. Registration fees will be $10 for those 16 and under, $25 for adults and $50 for family. Fees the day of the race will be $15 for 16 and under, and $30 for adults. The 10-mile race starts at 9 a.m., while the five-kilometer race starts at 9:30 a.m.

Tsalteshi running series continues
