DENALI NATIONAL PARK (AP) -- Denali National Park will begin accepting entries for its annual road lottery on July 1.
For four days each fall, the National Park Service lets up to 400 private vehicles drive the length of the park road, into the heart of Denali National Park.
During most of the year, most vehicle traffic cannot go beyond Savage River at Mile 15 and only tour buses are allowed to travel the length of the road.
The road will be open to lottery winners Sept. 13 through Sept. 16.
Lottery entries will be accepted from July 1 to July 31. The drawing will take place during the first week of August.
Park officials say entrants should send a self-addressed, stamped, business-size envelope to:
P.O. Box 9
Denali National park and Preserve, AK 99755
The self-addressed, stamped envelope serves as the entry and only one entry per person will be accepted.
Entrants should list their choice of days in order of preference on the right hand corner of the envelope.
Winners will receive their envelope back with a letter confirming which day they won.
