ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration research vessel will make a stop in Kodiak next week.

The vessel Atlantis in on a four-week, deep-sea exploration project. The crew is studying the biology, ecology and geology of seamounts.

Seamounts are undersea mountains.

The crew is using a manned submersible vessel called ''Alvin,'' the same research submarine that took part in the discovery and exploration of the Titanic.
