The American Legion Twins dropped both ends of a doubleheader Saturday to Chugiak in Anchorage.
The Twins lost the first game 15-5 and the second game 7-6 as they opened up a 12-game road trip by dropping to 4-8.
The Twins had trouble on defense, committing six errors in the first game and two in the second. In the second game, Twins pitchers allowed 13 batters to get on base via walks or getting plunked with a pitch.
The Twins continue the road trip today with a 12:30 p.m. doubleheader against Bartlett.
"Those weren't two of our better ballgames," Twins manager Lance Coz said. "I think the guys will take it upon themselves to play better (today). It's going to be a long road trip if they keep playing like this."
Corey Grimm took the loss in the first game for the Twins. Coz said Grimm did a solid job on the mound, but did not get any defensive support.
"In both ballgames, we made too many mistakes," Coz said. "Corey Grimm did a workmanlike job on the mound. He'd get two quick outs, then we'd make an error, then they'd get a hit, and the next thing you know they're scoring two or three runs."
And the next thing you know, Bartlett is ending the game early in the eighth inning due to the 10-run rule.
In the second game, the loss went to Robby Rounsaville. Rounsaville put the Twins in an early hole by issuing four walks and hitting a batter in the first inning.
The Twins entered the top of the seventh trailing 7-4. They managed to push a pair of runs across and had the tying run at second base, but Nick Weigle grounded out.
