Making changes and saying goodbye to friends

Posted: Sunday, June 29, 2008

We have always prided ourselves on being your community paper, and that will never change. However, sometimes the way we go about bringing you the news has to.

Monday's Neighbors' columns will be our last. Over the years they have brought you everything from gossip to breaking news, and always a whole lot more because the news came from you -- our readers.

We still want your news, as we move our Community page to Sunday's Peninsula Life section next week. That means we're looking for your birth and wedding announcements, as well as the other accomplishments of peninsula folks.

In an effort to make the Clarion even more reader-friendly, you'll see other changes, too.

The page with the New York Times Sunday puzzle, Dear Abby, Bigar's horoscopes and Glynn Moore's column will move from the Peninsula Life section to our classifieds section starting July 6.

On July 7, you'll find the weather information on page A-2. And starting July 8, the Pets page with your submitted photos will become a regular Tuesday feature.

When the Schools section returns in the fall, it will be featured on Mondays.

While making changes may be necessary, it's still difficult to leave a part of the the Clarion's history behind. We are very grateful to all of those who have served as our Neighbor columnists over the years. It's been a treasured part of who we are. Thank you for everything you have done for us.
