Long time Kenai resident Dave Worman died June 25, 2000, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage as the result of a river rafting accident. He was 40.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai, and his ashes will be scattered at Sixmile Creek in Hope.
Mr. Worman was born March 26, 1960, in Boulder, Colo.
He had been a resident of Kenai since July 1971 and attended Kenai Central High School and Alaska Bible College in Glennallen.
He was employed at the Unocal Alaska Nitrogen Products plant in Nikiski.
Mr. Worman won honors in the Arctic Bodybuilding Championship in 1993 and in the Alaska Bodybuilding Championship in 1994. He was president of the PACE Local 8369.
His family said, "He loved fishing, hunting and skiing with his son, Jeremy, and rafting and weightlifting."
Mr. Worman was preceded in death by his father, Robert Worman.
He is survived by his son, Jeremy of Anchorage; mother, Colleen Worman of Colorado; sister, Debbie Ham of Washington; grandmother, Shirley Marshall of Colorado; niece, Tara Yanak of Washington; and nephews Matt and Daniel Yanak of Washington.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Mr. Worman's memory in honor of Daniel Yanak to the Batten Disease Support and Research Association, 120 Humphries Drive, Suite 2, Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068.
Arrangements were made by Witzleben Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
