Ernst, Grey wed in winter ceremony

Bethany Lynn Ernst and James Henry Grey were married Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Star of the North Lutheran Church in Kenai. The Rev. Robert Deardoff officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Randy and Carol Ernst of Nikiski.

The matron of honor was Carey Atkinson, the bride's cousin, and bridesmaids Ellee Ernst of Baltimore, Md., sister of the bride, and Valerie Poirier of Berea, Ohio, sister of the groom.

The groom is the son of Hank and Mary Grey of Strongsville, Ohio.

The best man was Mark Grey of Euclid, Ohio, brother of the groom. the groomsmen were Wayne Webster and Matt Atkinson, cousin of the bride.

The ushers were Seth Tauriainen, cousin of the bride, and Brian Webster. Heidi Atkinson, cousin of the bride, attended the guest book.

Music was provided by Sherrill Miller and soloist Ellee Ernst. The couple chose Psalm 121 and Romans 12:9-18 for the ceremony.

Special guests at the wedding were the bride's grandmothers, Mim Tauriainen and Sally Ernst.

Out-of-town guests included the groom's parents, and Amy Dolan of Portland, Ore.

A reception was held at the church following the candlelight ceremony. A family dinner was held at the home of the bride's parents.

Ruth Tauriainen, RoseMarie Atkinson, Kay Tauriainen, Sue Tauriainen, Gretchen Graeff-Ernst and Deidre Tauriainen, the bride's aunts, prepared a buffet the following day for friends and family.

The couple met at Barrow High School, where they both taught for several years. After the wedding they returned to Barrow to finish the school year and teach summer school. They now live in Fairbanks.
