The Kenai Peninsula Soccer Club Raptors, a 15-and-under boys team, were named champions at the Ina Kristiansen Memorial Cup tournament, held June 6-9 in Anchorage. The team was the only one from the KPSC to come away with a title, compiling a 4-0-1 record over the course of the tournament. In the championship game, the Raptors defeated the Flaming Lizards 3-1 to secure the first-place award among the 11 U-15 boys teams at the tournament. The tournament is named for Ina Kristiansen, who died of leukemia May 22, 1992, and is dedicated to the spirit and enthusiasm with which she lived her life, played soccer and fought leukemia. On many teams, a single player was awarded for best exemplifying that spirit. On the Raptor's team, Tyler Smith received the award.
