CORDOVA (AP) -- The search for two kayakers missing near Cordova continued Saturday.

Alaska State Troopers said Curtis Keitel, 20, and Lee Houser, 20, had set out from a cabin at Deep Bay on Hawkins Island at about 4 a.m. Thursday and were headed home to Cordova. When they failed to arrive by midnight they were reported missing.

Fish and Wildlife Protection Troopers found their kayak shortly after noon Friday wedged between rocks on the north shore of Deep Bay.

The officers say there was no sign of the two men and no indication they had gone ashore.

The Coast Guard and local volunteers with boats were searching the area.
