All ground fires prohibited

The Alaska Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation announced that all ground fires are prohibited within the Kachemak Bay State Park. The combination of extremely dry conditions and extensive areas of spruce bark beetle-killed trees has made the conditions dangerous for recreational visitors. Fires are prohibited in all areas of Kachemak Bay State Park, including beaches, gravel bars and campsites with steel fire rings. For more information or updates on burning, call Alaska State Parks at 262-5581.
