Kenai resident Alta Lorrene Kallman died Monday, June 16, 2003, of heart failure at Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna. She was 84.
No services will be held per her request. She was cremated, and her ashes were scattered over the cemetery in Stariski Creek.
Mrs. Kallman was born Sept. 18, 1918, in Edgewood, Wash. She lived in Alaska for many years, residing in Anchor Point, Stariski Creek and, most recently, Kenai.
She loved to sew, crochet and cook and in later years took up painting as a hobby.
"She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a great person to be around," her family said.
Mrs. Kallman was preceded in death by her husband, Milo Kallman.
She is survived by her daughters, Daveene Hajek of Vancouver, Wash., and Wanda Bonillas of San Diego; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a cousin, Laura Barton of Homer; and two close friends, Connie Lucas and John Brandenburg, who spent a lot of time with her and took care of her during the last few years.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
