Volksmarch 10K set
The Anchorage Volkssport Club will host volksmarches 10 kilometer walks daily through Sept. 30 at the Kenai Subway. A volksmarch is a noncompetitive walk designed to encourage walking for health.
Participants may ask for a map and instructions from the Anchorage Volkssport Club box behind the counter at Subway during the stores hours. The event and supplies are free, though stamps for International Volksmarch books and distance credits cost $3.

Red Cross golf tourney set
The American Red Cross will hold it 13th annual golf classic, barbecue and auction fund-raiser Saturday at the Birch Ridge Golf Course in Soldotna. Tickets are available for hole-in-one on hole eight. The prize is a trip for two to Hawaii. Sponsors, volunteers and players are being sought for the event. Buzz Aldrin to speak at SeaLife Center
Former astronaut Buzz Aldrin will give a presentation and sign autographs from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the center. This will be Aldrin's only Alaska appearance.
The center also is sponsoring a "Jelly Jamboree" from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and a best jellyfish costume contest at 1 p.m. Saturday at the center. Judging will be based on originality, anatomical accuracy and biodegradability. The grand prize winner will receive an animal encounter where the winner can meet an octopus behind the scenes with up to three friends; the second-place winner will receive a complementary Kenai Fjords Tour; and third-place winner will receive $50 in cash.
The jamboree will feature family games, educational activities and mini tours to meet the baby jellies before the September exhibit completion. Tours are available with a $5 donation in addition to admission price. Admission to the center is $14 for adults, $11 for youth and free for those under age 7.

UCIDA plans membership meeting
