Sports Brief: Oilers lose 13-inning game

The Peninsula Oilers ended up losing Tuesday's nightcap in the doubleheader, 3-0 in 13 innings. The Miners pitching staff combined to no-hit the Oilers in the game. On Wednesday, the Miners lost to the Anchorage Bucs, while the Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks swept a doubleheader from the Anchorage Glacier Pilots. That puts the Oilers in first place in the Alaska Baseball League by a half game with a record of 12-5. Both the Miners, at 12-6, and the Panners, at 10-4, are in second place.

The Oilers play in Fairbanks against the Athletes in Action Fire today at 7 p.m. The game can be heard on 1140 AM.
