Behind a back-breaking, three-run home run in the eighth inning by Haas Pratt, the Anchorage Glacier Pilots defeated the visiting Peninsula Oilers 8-5 Monday in Anchorage.
The loss put the Oilers at 6-7 in the Alaska Baseball League and snapped a three-game Peninsula win streak. The Oilers are now three games behind the front-running Glacier Pilots in the ABL.
Peninsula will look to get back on the right track tonight when it plays the Anchorage Bucs in a 7 p.m. game in Anchorage.
In Monday's game, Peninsula came back from a 2-1 deficit to take a 5-2 lead. The big hit in the comeback was a two-out, two-RBI double by Chris Graziano.
However, the Glacier Pilots stormed back to tie the game at 5-5. Then in the eighth, Pratt launched a two-out, three-run home run off loser Adrian Schau.
The Oilers had two runners on in the ninth inning, but once again were foiled by Pratt, the first baseman who made a stop on a smash before recording an unassisted putout to end the game.
