Former longtime Alaska resident Donald Lynn (Donny) Dedrick died Dec. 11, 2002, at his parents' home in Medford, Ore. He was 41.
The family is planning a celebration of his life at 2 p.m. July 11 at Cunningham Park on Beaver Loop Road, where family members Keith, Bob and Becky will scatter his ashes in the Kenai River. A barbecue will follow at his brother Bob's house on Mapes Drive in Kenai. Anyone who knew Mr. Dedrick is invited to attend.
Mr. Dedrick was born in Ithaca, N.Y., on July 11, 1961. His family moved to Anchorage in 1964, then to the Kenai Peninsula in 1975. He moved to Medford in 1987.
"His greatest joy in life was playing guitar," his family said. "He also enjoyed fast cars and fishing."
He is survived by his parents, Anita and Jim Dedrick Sr. of Medford; brothers, Gary and Jim Jr. of Medford, Dale of Lee, Mass., Keith of Wasilla and Bob Dedrick of Kenai; sister, Becky of Sterling; son, Bryan of Ogden, Utah; and many nephews, nieces and friends.
