July 4 picnic slated

Sterling Baptist Church invites the community to a celebration and picnic at 11 a.m. Sunday at the church. The celebration will feature "The Spirit of America," a patriotic musical, a military honor guard presentation of the colors and a cookout. For more information, call 262-4711.

Church baseball night planned

Monday is Church Baseball Night at Coral Seymour Park in Kenai when the Peninsula Oilers take on Athletes in Action at 7 p.m. Free admission tickets are available at Good Books and More in Kenai and The Master's Vineyard in Soldotna.

AIA is a Christian organization that seeks to share the message of Christ through sports. Some of the AIA players will give testimonies after the game. For more information, call 262-7416.

Religious poems sought

A $1,000 grand prize is offered in a special religious poetry contest sponsored by the New Jersey Rainbow Poets. The contest is free for anyone to enter.

Fifty prizes in all total nearly $5,000. The entry deadline is Wednesday.

Judaism workshop planned

A "Taste of Judaism Workshop" will be hosted by Briat Elohim, the Jewish Congregation of the Kenai Peninsula, at 4 p.m. July 17 at the Kenai River Center near the Soldotna Airport.

Family worship offered

Peninsula Grace Brethren Church on Kalifornsky Beach Road offers "The River at Grace" worship experience for the whole family Thursdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. All are welcome to the informal worship meetings.

Clothes2Go open

The Inlet Faith formerly Aurora Heights Assembly of God Clothes2Go is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays to meet people's clothing needs. Clothes2Go is at the church on the corner of McGahan and Marie avenues, near Mile 27 of the Kenai Spur Highway in Nikiski. For more information, call 776-8723.
