Posted: Sunday, July 02, 2006

The American Legion Twins baseball team dropped a pair of games to East in Anchorage Saturday.

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Twins gave up nine runs in the first two innings and never recovered. Steven Mabeus took the loss.

In the second game, Jacob Lamphier pitched well but didn’t get much help as the Twins committed six errors, which led to five unearned runs in a 6-4 loss. Lamphier allowed eight hits over six innings, striking out two and walking one.

The Twins return home Monday for their first games at Coral Seymour Memorial Park in Kenai since June 4. The Twins will host the Bill Miller Big Fish tournament. Monday’s games begin at 1 p.m.; games on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are slated to start at 9:30 a.m.
