Donations sought for military personal

The Peninsula Yellow Ribbon club is in the process of making thank you gift baskets for returning soldiers and Marines. Community members interested in donating a gift, a gift card or making a thank you card for the baskets may call Bill and Carol Keller at 262-0492 or 394-1072. Arrangements can be made to pick up donations.

Garden club to meet

Central Peninsula Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. is July 10 at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture building on Kalifornsky Beach Road near Bridge Access Road intersection. The topic will be composts. Thom Jans and other area gardeners will share stories of their composting efforts. Annual club membership dues are $20.

Upcoming summer garden visits will be open only to paid members.

Classes set to reunite

· Skyview High School class of 1997 will hold its 10-year reunion July 27-29. Events scheduled are: happy hour at Hooligans July 27 at 7 p.m.; dinner at Paradisos July 28 at 6 p.m.; and a family picnic at Soldotna Creek Park July 29 at noon. Everyone is invited to the picnic who attended Skyview, even if they did not graduate with the class. RSVP is required for the dinner and picnic. · Soldotna High School class of 1997 is planning a class reunion for July 27-29. Class members are sought for updates on how they have spent the past 10 years. Anyone who attended SoHi with the class is invited to the reunion, whether they graduated with the class or not. For more information, call Theresa Sin at theresa.sin@gmail.com.

Ninilchik fair seeks sponsors, gardeners

· The Ninilchik State Fair is seeking volunteers to help with beautification around the grounds. Community members interested in sponsoring a flower bed, planting flowers in a wheelbarrow to display at the fair or donating transplantable annuals or perennials to the fair, call at the fair office at 567-3670. Office hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

· Fair is in need of woodchips to add to its poultry barn and garden beds. To donate or offer to pick up a truck load and deliver it to the fair, call 567-3670.

Fair exhibit guides available

Kenai Peninsula State Fair exhibit guides are available at the following locations: Cadre Feed, Trinity Green House, University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Service extension office; Kasilof Mercantile; Anchor Point Green House, Ninilchik Library, Ninilchik General Store, Homer Book Store, Wagon Wheel, Corner Stop, or the fair grounds office.
