ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The driver of a sedan on the Seward Highway died Thursday after colliding head-on with a pickup truck.
Alaska State Troopers said the driver of a 1993 Ford Taurus died in the crash at about 6:10 a.m. near Mile 53.
Two people suffered critical injuries and three suffered injuries that troopers described as minor.
A rescue helicopter was unable to fly to the scene because of poor weather. All of the injured were transported to hospitals via road.
Emergency medical service personnel from Moose Pass, Cooper Landing, Bear Creek, Girdwood and Anchorage responded to the accident.
The highway was closed to traffic for about three hours.
