ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A Talkeetna woman died when she crashed her motorcycle near Chena Hot Springs, Alaska State Troopers said Wednesday.

Naomi Darlene Rivers, 54, was driving a 1999 Suzuki 800 motorcycle Tuesday night at Mile 51.5 of the Chena Hot Springs Road, trooper spokesman Tim DeSpain said. Rivers bought the motorcycle a few days before and was still learning to use it, DeSpain said.

Rivers was going at least 40 mph into a left hand curve when the side of the motorcycle collided with the guardrail. The impact ejected Rivers, whose helmet was found 50 feet from where she landed, DeSpain said.

Rivers was pronounced dead at the scene, DeSpain said.
