Kenai and Ninilchik resident Johnny Earl Jones died Monday, June 30, 2003 in Anchorage. He was 64.
As his request, no services are planned. His ashes will be scattered in Cook Inlet.
Mr. Jones was born Aug. 26, 1938 in Lisbon, La., to John and Bessie Jones. He moved to Alaska in March of 1984, and was employed by Unocal from 1987 until 1998. He was a member of the Anchor Point Senior Citizens Center and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Faye.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Ron Jones of Omak, Wash.; son, Mike Jones of Arlington, Wash.; ex-wife, Edna Jones of Kenai; grandchildren, Seth Jones of Arlington, and Shane Francis and Tiana Stevens of Omak.; stepdaughter, Linda Bruce of Anchorage; sister, Joyce Lewis of Haynesville, La.; half-sister, Becky Oyston of Marinez, Ga.; friends, Thomas Brook of Kenai and Eric Hansen of Ninilchik; and his lifelong best friend, Oliver Berentsen of Mount Vernon, Wash.
Memorial donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Club in Kenai.
Arrangements were by Evergreen Memorial Chapels of Anchorage.
