ANCHORAGE (AP) An Oregon man riding in a car was killed Sunday night when the driver apparently ran a red light.

Raymond D. Cansler, 53, of Portland, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cansler was a passenger in a Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Sandra Reyes of Anchorage.

The sedan was southbound on Minnesota Drive at about 7:37 p.m. and made a left turn into the path of a hotel courtesy van driven by James E. Kosbruk, 48.

Witnesses told police the sedan driver ignored a red light.

Kosbruk, driving for Super 8 Motel, told police that he was in the right lane, traveling at about 40 mph when the sedan turned in front of him.

Reyes was taken to Providence Alaska Medical Center. Kosbruk was taken to the Alaska Native Medical Center.
