Klawock man drowns in small lake

Posted: Monday, July 07, 2003

ANCHORAGE (AP) A Klawock man died July 4 in a boating accident on a small lake.

Alaska State Troopers said Larry Harmon, 53, had been camping with his wife at the lake off a U.S. Forest Service Road.

At noon, Harmon went fishing in the lake. At 6:40 p.m., troopers were notified that his small skiff was spotted overturned and a search was launched.

Searchers found his body at about 7:30 a.m. July 5.

Harmon was not wearing a life jacket and alcohol was a factor in the death, troopers said.
